Trading Zone 2019 brings together 14 emerging talents, spanning 11 nationalities, from across the University of Edinburgh to explore ideas and push boundaries in unexpected ways. James Clegg, Assistant Curator, Talbot Rice Gallery Trading Zone stems from a desire to explore the diversity of student practice taking place across the University of Edinburgh. Led by a process of discovery, it evolved through an engagement with the work of over 300 students, including those from disciplines as seemingly far apart as Archaeology, Business, Design and Music. Trading Zone, Talbot Rice Gallery’s annual student exhibition is back for 2020! Trading Zone creates links between different disciplines across the University of Edinburgh. Propelled by contemporary ideas, the exhibition celebrates the blurring of boundaries, and has a vision of art, design or film intersecting with areas such as architecture, literature or music. Trading Zone, Talbot Rice Gallery’s interdisciplinary student show returns. This year the University of Edinburgh’s contemporary art gallery bridges Architecture, Fashion, Fine Art, Intermedia, Landscape Architecture, Literature, Music, Painting and Sculpture. The free exhibition, in the University’s Talbot Rice Gallery, runs from 26 May to 23 June.
